Roller Derby

www.roller-derby-on-film.co.uk Since 2008 have been documenting the rise of Roller Derby in the United Kingdom. This has included covering the first Roller Derby World Cup held in 2011 in Toronto, Canada, for Blood and Thunder magazine, the European championships in 2012, held in Berlin, the first men’s World Cup in Birmingham, England in 2013, and the subsequent women’s World Cups in Dallas, Texas, 2014 and Manchester, 2018, for the England squad. I was the co-editor of Inside Line magazine (UK) and a regular contributor to both Blood and Thunder (issues 16-24, front cover issue 22) and Five on Five (issues 19-23) magazines in the United States. I also supply articles to Lead Jammer (UK) and Deadly Kiss (France). My work has also been used in Ellen Parnavelas’ books, Flat Track Fashion, The Roller Derby Look Book (A&C Black) and The Roller Derby Athlete (Bloomsbury). I have self-published three editions of my photographs, produced calendars and various artwork for teams and had my images featured in both national and regional press. Photographing Boring Places It ain't concrete book

Photographing Boring Places

24-48pp A6 Zine. 150gsm cover, 115gsm inner, silk, full colour. An antithesis to social media and hyper-reality that keeps me being creative. Download all the copies here.

As a part-time photographer I try to take stunning photographs but they elude me. I can’t match the hyper-real, exciting images I see online everyday, mine end up, more, boring.

It Ain't Concrete

132pp 250mm x 210mm. Hard cover, 115gsm inner, silk, perfect bound, full colour. Concrete, in existence since Roman times, embraced by rapid industrialisation for factories and housing. A quick fix that can last for centuries. A fix that often doesn’t due to changing tastes and aesthetics. Buy a copy from Blurb.

Love ‘em or loathe ‘em, tower blocks are home to many. Early architectural utopian concepts giving way to purely practical concerns in housing as many people as possible in a small a square footing as possible.
