What I Do
MarketingI have 12 years experience working within a markerting/publicity unit of a large college of Further Education. I helped develop and implement a wide range of marketing campaigns aimed at a diverse audience using many different resources to engage users. This has included print, radio, mail drops, paid advertising (magazines/newspapers), street furniture (6 sheet and 48 sheet posters), websites, email/eflyers, social media, press and exhibitions. I have also worked closely with external organisations to maximise the impact of campaigns and get the best return on investment. This has also included gathering and interpreting analytics and data so that campaigns could be fine-tuned to be more successful on future projects. I have specialised in the non-profit and education sectors. |
DesignI am an experiencd Graphic Designer, in both print and web based products, working with clients from initial concept through to completion. This has included branding/re-branding, logo design, signage, print and promotional items. I have worked on large scale projects such as 'Choices', The Sheffield College's part-time prospectus, running at 80 pages with a print run of 80,000 copies as well as smaller one off products for specific events, utilising a wide range of production techniques, liaising with print companies and manufactures to ensure projects come in on time and to budget. Please see the examples section for a full list of products. I have also worked on a range of websites and digital projects. I was responsible for developing and maintaining The Sheffield College's website and The Online College's site. This required development work taking place within Content Management Systems and Virtual Learning Environments utilising HTML, CSS, Twitter Bootstrap and JQuery. SustainabilityWhere possible I use local suppliers and companies that provide recycled/renewable products to minimise the carbon footprint of projects. This includes using printers that use a wide range of recycled and part-recylced papers and boards, virgin stock from FSC accredited managed forests and vegetable based dyes and inks.

Personal Projects - Roller Derby
Since 2009 I have documented the resurgence of Roller Derby within the United Kingdom and across the world. This has included the first Roller Derby World Cup held in 2011 in Toronto, Canada, for Blood and Thunder magazine and the European championships in 2012, held in Berlin. In 2014 I covered the first men’s World Cup held in Birmingham, England. By using a range of social media to showcase this event I increased the traffic through the Facebook page I run from 5,000 views per week to over 200,000 during the World Cup weekend.
My work has been featured in Blood and Thunder and Five on Five magazines in the United States, Inside Line and Lead Jammer (front cover, issues 4 and 8) in the UK and Deadly Kiss in France. I am a regular contributor to Blood and Thunder (issues 16-23, front cover issue 22), Five on Five and Inside Line (issues 1-8 and 11). I also co-run Inside Line magazine, published quarterly. My work has also been used in Ellen Parnavelas' books, Flat Track Fashion, The Roller Derby Look Book (A&C Black) and The Roller Derby Athlete (Bloomsbury). I have also self-published two editions of my photographs and had work featured in the international, national and regional press. I am also the offical photographer for both the women's and men's England national teams.
